I’ve been away

•May 5, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Yes, I have been away. I am so sorry everyone I haven’t been around to blog. There is good news though! I have plenty of new things to blog about.

To start with, I have had to remove my first geocache. After alot of thought, I decided a few things. First, the location was not good (to many muggles). Second, people were uncomfortable having to find it because it felt to much like private property. Tomorrow, I am going on a hunt for where to put my new cache, and I may start another one two. I am getting better at this!

Here are the contents of my first cache (my favs only!)

Once, I have the new location I will post pics and a link!! Later this week I am going to post some pictures I took in Rochester, New York!!

Cheers!

What to do if you find yourself unemployed?

•January 31, 2009 • 2 Comments

So, what happens yourself unemployed? Than you are possibly one of millions Americans that are facing the same problem. After reading article after article everyone has a say on what you should do and what you shouldn’t do. The one thing I haven’t found is the article that tells you to relax and take it easy. Take some time to gather your thoughts, and think about the direction you want to go in.

Here is my advice to you of what to do if you find yourself suddenly unemployed.

1. Stop spending money!! Seriously, don’t be an idiot cut out the bars, starbucks, bookstore, movie subscriptions, etc… Most people who become unemployed might just keep living the same lifestyle they lived before. Stop!! Conserve your money, file for unemployment (currently there are extended benefits.), get roommates (if your single and don’t have a family), and make a budget!

2. Cut your expenses – First, use the unemployment to pay your rent, and other expense (don’t stop paying your credit cards you don’t want to get bad credit too), any additional expenses that can’t be pulled from unemployment, should come from whatever money you may have saved. If you don’t have any money, or very little money saved than look for additional ways to cut money (get rid of the cell phone, sirius, netflix, gym, magazines, online services, tivo, internet, telvision, etc.) Remember if there is something you need like internet to look for a job, than see if there is a service you can downgrade to, if they say no tell them you need to cancel your plan and they will send you to the rentition department and give you an incentive to stay. If you end up cancelling sign back up chances are they are running a special especially during this economic down turn. Just make sure that if you sign up again there wont be any set up fees that way you are having to spend more money than necessary. Did I mention DO NOT EAT OUT!

3. More ways to cut cost, negoitate with your creditors, see if you can lower your monthley minimus, call the electric program see what kind of hardships they can offer you. Make meals on a budget (spaghetti, rice dishes, sandwhiches, ramen, you remember college right.)

4. Behonest with people. Don’t lie to your husband, or wife and act like nothing is wrong. Let them know so that they can help you cope not only with your job lost but the financial changes that are going to need be made.

5. Tell your friends! I know its embrassing, and it sucks but suck it up and let them know. That way they can spread the word that you are looking for a job. If they happen to know anyone hiring they can tell you possibly even help you find your next job.

6. Work on your resume. Don’t know how get online research it, talk to family and friends. Go to a temp agency they will help spruce up your resume so that they can get you hired. If they do this make sure you have a copy .

7. Get out of the house. If you have a gym membership use it while you still can. Connect with old friends, do things that you have been to busy to do. Lots of cities have free places to go (museums, etc). That way you can relax so that when you do get a new job you won’t already be burned out, and looking for a job is highly stressful especially with rejection.

8. Relax! There is no need to stress yourself. Look for a job pace yourself, take on a part time job if you must will you are looking but, don’t forget to relax and take care of yourself.

Just Started a Blog? Submit Your Blog Here for a Boost!

•January 25, 2009 • Leave a Comment

When your blog is new, the one thing you want more than anything else is traffic.

There are many people at any given moment starting blogs, every minute of every day, in a vacuum as if there were nobody else out there to read their blog.

I want to try a little experiment in boosting blog traffic. Keep reading to see how it’s going to go.

The Golden Rule at Work

If you just started a blog and want a little traffic boost, here’s what you do:

  1. Leave a comment with your blog’s URL in the website field and describe your blog in a short paragraph.
  2. Make sure you subscribe to the comments so that you get alerted on every new comment.
  3. Every time a new comment is added, go and visit that blog! This is simply the golden rule at work: do for others as you would have them do for you.
  4. Subscribe to the other blogs’ RSS feeds.
  5. Stumble a post or two from the blog.
  6. Write a post on your own blog about the new blogs you have found and link to them.

You Must Participate for this to Succeed

If you just submit your link and that’s it, well, nothing’s gonna happen. The more you give, the more you get. Spend time visiting the other blogs, commenting and subscribing to their feeds.

You will also get some traffic from my readers who have already been blogging for a while. I’d like to encourage my regular readers to spread the link to this post around: this is one of those the-more-the-merrier kinds of things. So please link, stumble, and bookmark at Delicious. I’m not making any promises about huge traffic, but you’ll probably get more than from BlogRush, let’s put it that way. ;)

San Francisco #1 Tech Savvy City

•January 25, 2009 • Leave a Comment

picture-11

I love forbes, and all of the list they put out especially when i live in such an exciting city!!! So looking at the website yesterday. I came across San Francisco of the list on the most wired cities. San Francisco is number 1 for having Tech Savvy people. Which I can totally see there especially no matter where I go there, I run into to people all the time with laptops, gismo’s, etc… They are always programmers doing something at the top of there game! What surprised me is how low they ranked, because you can go anywhere in SF and get on the internet, with tons of cafes, being ranked 11 seems far to low to me for such a great city.
